My baby boy is completely legal now.

I had sent in letters from my husband doctors and my H.U.D. lawyer asked about my health issues and I told him I had quite a few and really have found my lil guy very relaxing when I become upset with myself and with my illnesses. My name was added to the discrimination complaint and if something should happen to one of us the board cannot start theri harrassment (I should note I was required to sign a letter of release, releasing the board from any law suits for thier harrassment. Seems this is legally normal for H.U.D. to ask for this).

These letters, together with a complaint were the start of our battle. Sunrise Lakes Phase 3 President Joe Bockstein, said I had never asked for permission. I recanted two separate occasion when I attempted to broach the subject at a board of directors meeting for my section (inc 3) of Sunrise Lakes Phase 3 (SRL3) and I was shut down, don't ask, don't tell sort of thing.

The H.U.D. attorney found my reasoning well within my feelings of not wanting to go further. When I was sent a letter from the management office, I did not lie and sent back a letter with my reasons for needing this lil guy. In short I was then requesting premisssion to maintain my lil guy in our home for medical reasons. I was and still am not under any demands legally to explain to SRL3 or anyone else mine or my husbands health issues.  I spoke of some openly, but this was my choice.

The key here is to apply to the boards and wait for your board to decline your request. Then start with the letters to H.U.D. and use collected Rx from your doctors stating the animal is not to be considered a pet, but part of your therapy along with doctor visits and your medications.  The key? Never, ever mention this animal as being a pet, pets are not allowed, but medically necessary animals are legal for residents to have with proper documentation.  Then H.U.D. will let you know when and if you have won your request. The owners should then find an animal to best suit their needs.

Responsible ownership, falls in line here. Owners must always be considerate of their neighbors and the property they walk their animals on. Cleanliness in your homes is another large portion of responsible ownership and the training of your animal not to be an annoyance to others around you.

We are being allowed to keep Randi, our lil boy with the understanding, if something should happen to him, before we'd replace him (GOD forbid such a thing happening) we would have to obtain permission from the board before doing so.

If the animal becomes noisy or not a good neighbor to have, the board still has the right of requesting the removal of the animal from the premises or the owners choosing to do so or them moving out.

I still find it very hard to say animal, yes he is a pet in many ways, but the medicine he brings into our home here, is amazing and priceless for our health and well being.

Thanks Maida and if someone needs some help beyond what I have explained, direct them to me as I will be willing to help them as best I can.

Thank you all for your prayers of support,
